School Meals & School Snack

Find out about our school meals by visiting:

To apply for benefits-related Free School Meals (FSM), please speak to the school office.

You will need to provide the school with:

•             your full name

•             date of birth

•             and National Insurance (NI) number or National Asylum Support Service (NASS) reference number

We will then share your details with the City of Wolverhampton Council. They check eligibility using a secure Government website.

If you are found eligible, we will let you know.

If you have No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF), you will need to complete an application form and provide additional evidence to the school.

Schools receive valuable Government funding (Pupil Premium) for every child registered for FSM. Even if your child chooses not to eat school meals, we would still encourage you to register.

Registering for FSM also entitles children to access the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme during Christmas, Easter and Summer school holidays.

Further information can also be found on the following link:

School meals are prepared and cooked on the school premises, and they are very popular with many children and staff!

  • All children in Reception, year 1 and year 2 are entitled to Free School Meals. However if you are eligible, we still need you to register for Free School Meals.

  • For children in year 3 to 6, if you are unemployed or receiving a low income, you may either call the Civic Centre or  school and enquire whether you are entitled to help with school meals. School benefit from additional funding if you are entitled to free school meals – so please claim if eligible!

  • For those families not entitled to Free School Meals, there is a charge. For this, our preference is that parents/carers pay using our online payment system. Alternatively, we ask that payment for meals is made on Mondays and money is brought in clearly marked envelopes as any loss causes much distress to the child and yourself.

If you do not wish to take up the offer of a school meal, then children are able to bring a packed lunch.

  • This must be a healthy packed lunch.

  • In the interest of safety, GLASS BOTTLES containing drinks are NOT ALLOWED on the school premises.

  • Drinks must be of the still variety, no fizzy pop allowed.

All children have access to milk at lunch time or during the nursery sessions and all children are provided with water bottles.

Snacks at St Luke's!

We also offer a breakfast snack service at St Luke’s at the beginning of each day. There are a range of snacks on offer, this includes breakfast bars, yoghurts, raisins, bagels, brioche and fruit.

Fruit and bagels are also available for children as a mid-afternoon snack.

We are part of the 'Fruit project for Early Years and Key Stage 1 children', however as a school we buy additional fruit for our Key Stage 2 children to enjoy as well.

We are also part of the National Breakfast Scheme which means that we get bagels at a discounted price.

For your child to take advantage of our 'Snack Service', we ask for parents/carers to pay £1.50 per week.

However, if parents pay for each half-term in full, there is a discounted rate. Please see the chart below:
